Starting in 2017, we wanted to open ope a simple small stand up paddle board rental company to teach people how to stand up paddle board. Being a bigger guy, I struggled trying to find a board big enough for me. At that time SUP was still somewhat of a new thing here in the Midwest and in recent years it has exploded due to the versatility of them. After our first year and literally hundreds of phone calls asking if we rented canoes and kayaks. We did not intend on having any canoes or kayaks besides our private boats. We decided to get some canoes but, we didn't want to be like everyone else because "WE" are not like anyone else. Instead of buying thousands of dollars in new flashy canoes, we asked a couple friends of ours that own an outfitter on another river if they had any old aluminum canoes that needed a little work but would still make great boats. Boy they did. we basically had a fleet of boats for the cost of two new boats. We decided to stand out and give them each a unique paint job and name them. Then Came the company name. We still are Show Me SUP however, we felt that as an outfitter we needed something edgy and fun. Enter Schitty Canoe Company, yes a play on words and folks really got a good laugh at the name so it stuck. 

Fast Forward to today, we grow at a snails pace to avoid going into debt, one reason is we never know what the river is going to do or how the weather is going to act and we did not want to be struggling when river conditions are not safe. We play on descriptions and names but, we do take safety very seriously. Every season we try to bring on more rafts and kayaks and boards to keep our fleet growing as we grow as a small business. 

We love each and every one of our customers and most the time a good amount of them become friends.
